Going to Des Moines :)

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

This quilt is going to Des Moines to be in the AQS quilt show!!!  My friend & I thought we might have a better shot at getting accepted into the Des Moines show since this is the first AQS show at this location.  I entered my Brooch Quilt and Darlene entered two of her quilts and all three of them were accepted.  It was quite a surprise, I must say, since I was pretty sure mine wouldn’t get in.  Darlene’s sister lives in Iowa and has graciously agreed to host us for the show in Oct.  Yipee!!

Olympics & Sewing

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Sew here’s how I was able to get some sewing done while watching Olympic coverage :)   I just moved my sewing machine upstairs.

Here’s what I started with…..

Each light square had to have a diagonal line drawn on it.  I sewed 1/4″ on each side of the diagonal and ended up with this.

All ready for ironing and cutting!  Lot’s of progress on the mountain quilt :)

Here’s a picture of the new kitty, Rail, making herself quite at home.

And a new old sewing machine for my dad picked up for $3 at an auction a couple of weeks ago.  The paint on it is in good shape and the flowers are really cute.

Olympics

I’ve watched lots of Olympic coverage, including the exciting men’s 4 x 100 freestyle relay.  WOW!!   What a finish.  It’s kept me from sewing as much as I’d like now that I have the itch to stitch back.  I have cut almost all the squares for the Mountain quilt and would have loaded a picture to prove it but I was slow to get out of bed since I was up late watching the Olympics :-}  I’m thinking I’ll bring my machine upstairs so I can sew while I watch ;)
