GLEE!

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Here’s my four letter happy word for Tonya’s (of Lazy Gal Quilting) request for free pieced words.  I used my scrap bag of Cherrywood fabrics and it seems a bit plain but I do like the color combination.  I’ve dropped this in the mail today :)

No sewing going on this weekend :0)

Above is a picture of a demonstration at the Moon Marble Company by Bruce Breslow.  Below are a couple of cool buildings we saw:

May First Saturday Block

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

I finished the May First Saturday Block and boy does it look bright in the picture!  It’s not really quite so bright.  I made another cutting mistake but this time it was for the orangy-red fabric rather than the focus fabric like I did last time.  Soooo I used an orangy-red fabric from my stash which was an extremely close match with the original.  I’m blaming this mistake on my new square frosted rulers….for no good or valid reason ;)

And here’s the alternate block I finished earlier.

And It’s Off

Mountain Quilt I is on its way!  I originally thought the label would be so cool done in the buttons saved from the shirts in the quilt but alas, it wasn’t coming together well.  I chucked that idea and went with a hand embroidered label and a heart made using the smaller shirt buttons.   It is  MUCH better than the first go round and I did get to incorporate the buttons.

May’s Alternate Block

Monday, May 11th, 2009

I’ve been busy washing up my fabric haul from Paducah :)   I’ve also been working a bit in the garden and it’s been so nice to be outdoors.  So far it’s been a pretty cool, if a bit wet, spring.

I’ve cut out my First Saturday blocks and got the alternate blocked completed:

The main block is more than half way together so I’ll have a picture of it soon.

On another note, I’m going to make a free pieced letter for Tonya of Lazy Gal Quilting from her request in this post and she explains more about it at the end of this post.   This is a good one for me because there’s a deadline, June 15th!!  I work best under the pressure of a deadline :)

Remember my first attempt at free pieced letters? I’ll be using bright, happy fabrics for Tonya’s….I’d better get busy!

Quilt Man

Friday, May 1st, 2009

I’ve been spotting photos of Quilt Man on several quilting blogs :)

I understand Quilt Man was the MC for the quilt auction held in conjuction with the AQS quilt show in Paducah.  My dad has been the MC/auctioneer at several quilt guild auctions, perhaps he needs a Quilt Man costume?????  Check out those shoes!
