Snuggler

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Our niece is having a baby girl Dec 31st.  I finished the snuggler for her and am quite pleased with the results :)

Here’s what’s on my design wall:

P DWM [Desktop Resolution]

These are crumb blocks I made last year and I’m making a small quilt that is about 2 1/2 yards worth of fabric, if not more ;)   It’s wild and crazy and I’m loving it.

I also used up a couple of yards of fabric making a snuggler.  The link to pattern is compliments of Cluck Cluck Sew.  There is an option in Internet Explorer to print the file directly from IE and to tile large pages.  Then you can tape the pages together to make the pattern.

This puzzle was a gift from my parents and I openned it at Thanksgiving…..I’ve been very good and waited until Christmas to open it.

This puzzle was so fun!  Thanks Mom & Dad for this special order puzzle.

Leaders….

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

With the sewing I’ve been doing lately, I managed to finish up a number of leader/ender 9 & 4 patch blocks.  I ironed a few up last night and put them in my collection box (isn’t it a fun box?) and, wow, check out these piles-ups!  Leader/enders rock, thanks Bonnie :)

Stash Report

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

I finished a project so I get to count the backing of ~ 1 1/2 yds :)   No purchases since my last update so here are the stats:

Added:  0     Cumulative Added: ~ 25 yds

Used: 1 1/2     Cumulative Used: ~22 1/2 yds

Net Out/(In): (~2 1/2 yds)

I’m thinking with a few days off before New Years, I might just get into positive territory for 2009!  Two and a half yards isn’t hardly anything ;)     Perhaps I can do something with these crumb blocks I made in March 2008 (I remember having so much fun making these, they are addictive!).  Sashing and backing should be more than 2 1/2 yards.

Crumb Blocks Closer

Design Wall Monday :)

Monday, December 21st, 2009

I sewed the background strips to my TTNP blocks so that’s what’s on my design wall.  I have to make more copies of the paper piecing templates before I can continue and wouldn’t you know I forgot to bring the pattern?  Maybe tomorrow.  Check out Judy’s blog to see what others have on their design walls!

DWM

I quilted a bit this weekend and Sophie continues to be her wonderful self.  My free motion quilting needs way more practice though!!

I made some binding on the bias and thought what the heck, I’ll just cut up the whole piece of fabric to avoid having big triangle pieces left over.   Big left over big triangles pieces aren’t easy to work with later and they don’t fold well either!  Think I made at least 3 times more than I needed, lol……here are the left overs!!

First Sat Change

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Darlene & I are both doing the Quilted Fox Asian Attitude” First Saturday program and we are both doing the optional alternate block.  The directions have the top left and bottom right units rotated in different directions as in my block on the right below.

BOM

Darlene has chosen to leave her corner units rotated in the same direction.   She put them on her design wall and look, you can see a stretched star!

Darlene 1st

Now look at my design wall, do you see the “basket” where Darlene’s star is?  I have one of my blocks turned the wrong way, so there is only one “basket” on the left to see.  Interesting…..I almost wished I’d listened to Darlene and changed my alternate blocks too.

Catch Up

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

I was determined to catch up on the First Saturday blocks, even the alternate blocks.  I surprised myself and even finished the blocks that aren’t due until January 2nd :)   This is even more amazing because I won’t be at the January 2nd First Saturday and will have to pay for my block anyway so I didn’t even HAVE to have them done.

Stash Update

Monday, December 7th, 2009

I guess my husband reads my blog……he left a comment on my last stash report post that I am sooooo busted!  Well, not this time as I didn’t ADD any fabric despite the fact that I went to a new-to-me fabric store on Saturday!!  I didn’t finish any quilt tops but I did use some fabric for bindings.  Gee, think I could use 4 yards before the new year?  Hmmmm…….

Here’s my latest stash report:

Added this week:  0 Cumulative Added: ~ 25 yds

Used this week: 1     Cumulative Used: ~21 yds

Net Out/(In): (~4 yds)

Design Wall Mon and First Sat Update

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Here’s my design wall:

F DWM

Check out other design wall on Design Wall Monday at Judy’s blog.  Some one left a comment that my design wall was messy ;)   So I cleaned it up putting the orphan blocks away and stacking the 9-patch blocks in my project box.  These blocks are the First Saturday blocks I finished this weekend and, boy, what a bad picture, geez.

Below are #2, #4 & #5 main First Saturday blocks. #5 isn’t even due until January 2nd which is far better than finishing #4 on Friday the night before the first Saturday which is what I did this time.

First Sat 3

After first Sat, my friend Darlene & I met up with a group of quilters from our guild for a holiday luncheon at Miss Amee B’s Tea Room in St. Charles, MO.  We had a wonderful time and the food was terrific.

I quilted the Halloween table runner (Sophie is so wonderful!) so I did make some progress on the sewing front :)
