Stash Report

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

First, I forgot to add my stash report yesterday and maybe it had something to do with my recent purchases :(   BUT, I have a good excuse!  I needed 3 yards of a solid for the Pinwheel Party quilt and I didn’t have 3 yards of one color in my stash, so you see, I had to order some fabric.   When you order fabric from the Fabric Shack, you have to make it worth the shipping cost so I added a shot cotton, a couple of other solids and a couple Jo Morton’s to the shopping cart.  But look, I’ve put the solid navy fabric to use already!

Added:  10     Cumulative Added:  49.5 yds

Used:  0           Cumulative Used:  ~7 yds

Net Out/(In):   (42.5 yds)  Yikes!!!!  I don’t get to count anything as used yet :(

DW Monday

It’s Design Wall Monday :)   I worked on a few things this weekend.  I got the pieced blocks sewn for the Vicksburg BOM, the first Pinwheel Party block together, made a couple of house blocks for Bumblebeans and worked on piecing the back for my Recycled Cabins top that I finished quite awhile ago. All in all, I got a lot completed.

I got a little bored sewing the backing pieces together…….

for this top……….

So I made another couple of house blocks which didn’t make it onto the design wall :)

Vicksburg Blocks

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

I’m still working on the Vicksburg Free BOM…..I know, I know, they haven’t made even a mention lately.  I selected the fabrics for the pieced blocks (block #3) last night.   I really like the red fabric I picked for the star points….notice I took care to have the design going in the same direction :) I have blocks 1, 2 & 4 completed and have block 5 already to applique but Dawn at Linen Closet Quilts has posted block 7 already!

I finished sewing the blocks and sashing on the Foxy Fassett quilt last night as well.  It has it’s own name now….the frog quilt, lol.  I’ll have to get a picture to show you why ;)

Hey, check out the link on the right side for the Pinwheel Party hosted by Twiddletails blog.  Think I can keep up with a block a week for 12 weeks and the 13th week for sashing and borders?  We’re going to find out!

Here’s my stash report:

Added:  0     Cumulative Added:  39.5 yds

Used:  .5  (house blocks)      Cumulative Used:  ~7 yds

Net Out/(In):   (32.5 yds) Still heading in the right direction…..just not too quickly

The winter Olympics are over so it’s time to move my sewing machine back to the sewing room.  I’m an Olympics junkie and these have been some great games.  I love that NBC shows events on multiple channels so you can see more of the games.  Well, multiple channels plus AT&T Uverse ;)   Here’s what’s on my design wall and you can check out Judy’s blog for what other quilters are working on this week.

I made some house blocks for Bumble Beans BASICS Home Gather which I’ll drop in the mail today.  Victoria doesn’t use patterns but she posted directions for her house block.  I must say it was a challenge :)

I laid out the blocks from the Foxy Fassett BOM.

Not easy with so much help from my four footed feline companions, I have to tell you!  Then I started in on the sashing and got about half the top together.

Wowsa !!  It is colorful, isn’t it?  I love the fabric I purchased for the border.  It’s not going to calm the colors down but I hope it pulls it all together.  That pink block is really glaring at me, yikes.
