Missing the Wall

Monday, February 27th, 2012

Howdy!  I missed DWM last week because I was out of town and this week it’s Design Ironing Board Monday ;)   The scrap club Tea hosts met this weekend and I spent most of my sewing time preparing logs for our current project.

I was able to pull from my 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 inch strips but I needed even more so I’ve been cutting into some fat quarters and half yard stash.  I’ve also tackled the fabric leftover from past projects that have been sitting in the “to be cut” pile.  Here’s the proof….check out the trash mountain I’ve got going!

Stash Report – Same as last week, however, I will have some to add next week as I sort through I bag I brought home from my out-of-town visit to see what I will keep and what I share with others :)

  • Fabric in:  0 yards
  • Fabric out: 0 yards
  • YTD Fabric in: 22 yards

Addition to My Priority Quilt Collection

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

Woo hoo!  Check out my newest Priority Quilt addition from AAQI :)   It’s from Ann Scott, my second one of her’s and I love it!  It’s titled “Respite”

Here’s the first on Ann’s Priority quilts I acquired, “Escape”.  It really is much smaller than Respite.

DWM Time

Here it is Design Wall Monday again!  I made a couple more of the civil war blocks…..

Barbara Brackman made this one for the series and she calls it the Union Shield.

This one is Yankee Puzzle and I’ve made two of them.  We have to repeat three blocks to have a total of 56.  As I’m writing this, it occurs to me that using 4 shields in the corners might be a nice look…..maybe I’ll make three extra of them!

A quilting friend, Dorris, passed a couple of years ago and her wishes were for the guild to have her stash.  In the share I received, were a couple of orphan squares and quite a few batik scarps.  I’m played with them this weekend and think I’ll finish these up for an AAQI Priority quilt.  At least the thumbnail picture will be seen since it’s so bright :)

Stash Report – Same as last week:

  • Fabric in:  0 yards
  • Fabric out: 0 yards
  • YTD Fabric in: 22 yards
  • YTD Fabric out: 12 yards
  • Net Fabric In/(Out): 10 yards

Catching Up

Monday, February 6th, 2012

It’s Design Wall Monday and here’s what’s on my wall.

I finished my First Saturday blocks….just in time for Saturday ;)

I sewed up another block, Port & Starboard, from Barbara Brackman’s Civil War BOW.

And tested out cutting a few red string blocks into triangles :)

I cleaned off my ironing board in order to iron the fabric for the Vicksburg backing.  That led to cutting scraps into strips and squares to feed the scrap savers system, cutting one square from each of the polka dot fabrics in my stash for a fellow quilter, finishing cutting up the last of the shirts donated from the hubby’s closet, and figuring out what’s up with the TTNP borders.  Not that I’ve worked out how to handle it, but I’ve figured out what’s what.

Stash Report:

  • Fabric in:  4 yards (shirts from my husband’s closet and a couple of Fox Tails)
  • Fabric out: 5 yards (backing for Vicksburg quilt)
  • YTD Fabric in: 22 yards
  • YTD Fabric out: 12 yards
  • Net Fabric In/(Out): 10 yards

Waste Not Wednesday

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Jo of Jo’s Country Junction starting hosting Waste Not Wednesday posts and this is my first one.  I use phone book pages for string pieced blocks, lot’s of folks do this, but then I use the papers after they are removed for worm bin bedding :)

2012 January Palette Challenge

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Here is the piece I made for January using the color palette Vicki selected here.  I knew what I wanted to do but, of course, didn’t finished it until last night ;)   “Amish String Theory” will go to AAQI :)
