Log Cabins

I finished sewing on the last round of logs.  I have a stack to iron still but I’m finished sewing all 110 blocks (this is a revision from 100 because, duh, 10 logs of each size in 11 different fabrics total 110), woo hoo.  Now I can play with the setting 🙂

Brown LogCabin BlocksAnd because animal photos are just too cute, here’s Simontacchi supervising grocery unloading.  I think he’s keeping a sharp eye out for cat food….as you can tell, he’s food motivated 🙂

That Time of Year

The time of year when a quilt is what’s needed to keep the chill away…….especially if you’re a four footed family member 🙂

Simontacchi Under QuiltHarley Asleep on QuiltThat’s Simontacchi who loves to get under a quilt and our new puppy dog, Harley.  I know weird picture angle so here’s a better picture of Mr. Harley.  He’s such a cutie and makes me laugh.  He’s a rescue  English Pointer mix that we got when he was 4 months old.  He is just so darn cute!!

Log Cabins from Shirts

Here’s what’s on my design wall late this Monday evening.  I’m linking up with Design Wall Mondays so check out what other quilters are working on.

I read how other quilters have this problem with starting a new project when they should be working/finishing other ones.  How do you stop it????  Look what I did………I started another project when I should be finishing two other ones!  The brown thrifted shirts were calling me and I couldn’t resist the urge to start a log cabin quilt.

Log Cabin 1Should I set them like this?

Log Cabin 3Or maybe like this?

Log Cabin 2Or maybe like this?  I’m leaning towards this one and since I have 100 blocks that are 7 1/2″, it should make a nice graphic quilt, IMHO.  Guess we’ll find out as I finish up the rest of the blocks.

Fun Things

I have a few fun things to show 🙂  First are the beautiful rosettes from the honorable mention ribbons my quilts won at the Quintessential Quilt 2013 show.

Honorable Mention RibbonThe one above was made by Mary Adams for Vicksburg and the one below was made by Deb Lewis for Tiled.  I’m pleased to have won these lovely ribbons 🙂

At scrap club several months back, Connie Barnett instructed us on how to make snap bags.  I’m so pleased with my fabric choices and the way the bag turned out, woot, woot!

Snap BagI’ve resumed an applique project, Folk Style Sampler from Australian Patchwork & Quilting that I started in August of 2007.  There are 9 blocks and I had 6 completed.  Here’s number 7

Block 7I’m about half way done with number 8 so this one might make it past the block stage in a couple of months.  Here’s my design wall with the first three months of the newest First Saturday, The Fox Sails the Greek Isles, as well as the last two blocks from The Fox has Dots series.  I’m linking up with Judy’s Design Wall Monday.
