It’s Design Wall Monday or Design Flimsy Monday for me 🙂 Not just any flimsy but Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll (RRCB)!! Linking up with Judy at Patchwork Times.
I needed to adjust the inner border widths to make the pieced border fit and the seam allowances always mess me up when doing the calculations. I’m really glad I double checked because I had the strip widths reversed at first.
RRCB was Bonnie Hunter’s 2011 mystery quilt….about time I got it together, right? LOL! I’m thrilled to have this top completed and hope to have it quilted and bound before 2014 is over (don’t laugh, that’s fast for me!)
Here’s what RRCB looked like when I worked on it in Shipshewana in 2012.
It’s huge which is why I’m not showing the whole flimsy now 🙂
- Fabric in: 0 yards
- Fabric out: 14 yards (Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll)

Happy Quilting, Cherie
I so enjoyed the “Just Takes 2” Beyond the Cherry Tree quilt posts of the past two years, that I’m going to join in on the second “Just Takes 2 “quilt-along for the Benjamin Biggs Wedding quilt. A block will be posted and be free to download (for one month only) each month so with 25 different blocks, it will take more than 2 years, thus the “Just Takes 2” tag line 🙂 Lori, of Humble Quilts has her first block completed already. Click on the link on the right side if you’d like to see the whole quilt.
I have a great feeling about 2014. I just know it’s going to be a great year, both quilt-wise and otherwise 🙂
I am participating in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge this year and the RSC2014 color for January is blue. Specifically bright & dark blues. I’d like to make two blocks each month so I’ll have 24 blocks to make a rainbow quilt at the end.
I snuck off to the GW Clearance center again for some last minute thrifted gifts (that’s the rule for this particular holiday exchange – they must be thrifted 😉 ) and look what else I found.
The one below is a fabulous red with a great pattern but it’s a dud…….97% cotton and 3% the dreaded spandex. Isn’t it a fun, strapless summer dress though? It’s in perfect shape and washed up beautifully. Any size 7’s out there??? Oh well, at $0.79/lb, it’s nothing to cry over except that I just love the color & pattern.
I lost my best quilting friend, Darlene, in 2013 and I still think of her everyday. I’m sure I will continue to think of her everyday in 2014 and that’s a good thing because I can continue to relive our great times together and be comforted that she’s watching the fabric fly 🙂 Here’s to you, Darlene!
