Design wall additions include pink string blocks for the RSC14 and the February first Saturday block. Click over to Judy’s DWM post to see more eye candy 🙂
The first Saturday blocks are all batiks with a wow print and are suppose to be in the colors of the Greek Isles. The medium green-blue color does look like island ocean water to me.
I think the RSC pink pinwheels look fine with the first set of sting blocks I with the wide variety in values.
My quilt guild was over the top generous with a gift certificate to The Quilted Fox as a thank you for directing the Quintessential Quilt 2013 show. Which got me thinking about the 108″ wide Kona cotton I bought for the background of the Benjamin Biggs Wedding quilt because it was only $35. I liked the color but the courser weave wasn’t as nice to hand applique on. Given that I had only just begun my first BBW block, I decided to use my gift to indulge in a similarly colored but much finer weave Moda background for my BBW quilt. It is, after all, a 2 year project and I’ll be ever so thankful each time I work on it for the lovely gift from my guild 🙂 Oh, and a couple of Fox Tails and other lovely red/orange print were added to the gift as well. Thank you to all wonderful ladies in our guild.
