2014 Wrap Up

So in 2014, I finished a couple of quilts and started a few (RSC2014!).  The most recent completion is the brown and white log cabin made from thrifted shirts.

Cabin in the WoodsI think DS likes it 🙂

DS Log CabinNext is the quilt made from the Fox Visits Provence blocks from the First Saturday program at The Quilted Fox.  This was a gift for our wonderful hostess for the Paducah AQS quilt show.

Fox Visits ProvenceAnd a very delayed finish (and totally awful picture) of a baby quilt made by special request for DD’s BFF.

Baby QuiltAnd finally a mini quilt-a-long, Mountain Trail, from 2012 from the Humble Quilts blog by Lori.

Mountian Trail 1As far as projects in progress (or hibernating as the case may be), I’m leaving 2014 with:

  • 7 quilts ready to be quilted
  • 5 quilt tops needing backings
  • 15 WIP’s.

And the 2014 stash report, drum roll please, ended with:

  • 2014 Fabric in:  127.5 yards
  • 2014 Fabric out: 81.5 yards
  • 2014 Net Fabric In: 46 yards

I’ll do better in 2015….I’m training myself to delete, immediately, those tempting emails from on-line fabric stores, you know who you are, Hancock’s of Paducah, Fabric Shack, and Homestead Hearth.   Another help is my new Studio fabric cutter.  Faster cutting = faster quilts = faster stash out 😉

studio cutterJust check out the 2 1/2″ strips I cut in, like, 5 minutes.

2,5 stripesI cut these triangles in no time flat.

studio trianglesAnd these were cut on the Studio cutter and sewed into broken dishes blocks in no time!

Broken DishesWoo Hoo!!

As I predicted at the end of 2013, I thought of my quilting friend everyday.  Miss you still, Darlene.  Hope you all have a wonderful 2015!

Tail End of 2014 DWM’s

Only two 2014 DWM’s left after today.  I sewed up December’s First Sat main block and Nov & Dec alternate blocks which means…..I’m all caught up 🙂  Hop over to Judy’s DWM post for more quilt-y goodness. Pardon the bloody awful photo’s of my basement design wall.

DWM 12-15-14Below is the December First Sat block.  Like Jan O, I substituted a different fabric for the light green.  I think it’s dark enough, but maybe not?????  Guess we’ll see when we have all the blocks in July 2016.  Huh, kind of looks like caterpillars in the center fabric doesn’t it?

FS Dec MainFS Dec AltFS Nov AltThe First Sat programs from The Quilted Fox are always interesting in that sometimes the colors don’t seem to go with each other.  In the end, I’ve always been pleased with the 5 quilts I’ve made from them.

Fox Visits ProvenceAbove, The Fox Visits Provence.   Below a hurried, horrible picture of Asian Surprise.

Asian Surprise 1Fox's PuzzleAbove, is the Fox’s Puzzle.  I have one completed top and blocks for an additional 4 tops which have aged long enough.  In 2015 I want to finish at least three……oh, who am I kidding?……I’m sure I’ll finish them all, ROTFLMAO!!!!

Stash Report:

  • Fabric in: 2 yards (thrifted shirts)
  • Fabric out:  4.5 yards (more solids to DD)
  • YTD Fabric in:  127.5 yards
  • YTD Fabric out: 81.5 yards
  • Net Fabric In/(Out): 46 yards

Totally Finished, Name Changed

So this time the brown log cabin quilt is totally finished, binding, label and all 🙂  Oh, and it’s had a name change to “Cabin in the Woods” per popular opinion of those present at label writing time.

Cabin in the WoodsCabin BackingThe only thing new to my design wall is November’s main First Sat block.  Hop over to Judy’s DWM post and see lot’s of quilty action.
