After seeing the quilt below at an antique shop while in Paducah for the spring AQS quilt show a few years ago, it stayed with me. I even inquired about the purchase price but alas it wasn’t for sale.

My friend Jan who blogs at The Colorful Fabriholic, drafted the pattern for me and that somehow lead to a group collaboration QOV quilt. Being a QOV quilt set the color scheme and Jan, Kevin (the quilter), Dar & I all dug into our stashes. We all worked on cutting and paper piecing the arcs and Jan helped us all sew the curves…..not as bad as I anticipated!

We got the blocks done and it was amazing how well the blocks went together…..AMAZINGLY well. Four different quilters, four different machines and it went together perfectly (well, maybe not perfectly, but pretty darn close).

I took the top for quilting and somehow it took a wrong turn in Albuquerque. Suffice it to say my husband saved the day by locating the top in my sewing room and the whole sordid event lead to the start of a big sewing room tidy. With the perfect backing Jan found, Sophie, my longarm, and I finally got it quilted. Jan finished it off and check it out!

Pictures don’t do this quilt justice, it is amazing in person IMHO. Really I’m so proud to have worked with this group of friends to make this challenging QOV and it’s an honor to have it go to a veteran.
