Going to Houston

Well, I’m not going to Houston but two of my Priority quilts are going!  Amish Strings and Love Lifted Me are no longer on the AAQI Quilts for Sale” page…..they’ve been move to the “Hoarding for Houston” page.  I have to say I’m jealous, because I want to go the Houston quilt show…..maybe someday……If you are at Houston, be sure to stop by the AAQI booth and say hi to my quilts 🙂

Labor Day Monday

It’s Design Wall Monday so hop over to Judy’s post here to check out other DWM posts.   Here’s my wall…..lots of misc items!

I finished the Baprons from last week.  The mother-to-be liked them and appreciated that they were hand made 🙂  The one on my design wall will go to the mother who is receiving this quilt…..just as soon as the binding gets sewn down.

I don’t think I showed a picture of this finished AAQI Priority Quilt, “King Me”.   I’m pleased with it but thought I’d like the binding fabric more than I do.

Priority Quilt Auction Starts Saturday

The Priority quilts have been selected and the auction starts Saturday.  I neglected to post my pick for highest dollar quilt last month…….and it was just as well, I missed by a mile.  Don’t underestimate the power of animal quilts!  Here are my top picks for September’s auction:

My favorite: Rosy Dawn #10,261 by Sherry Whitford

Most Striking: On Top of My World #10,588 by Paula Dean

Lovely colors and pattern: Flower Star #10,696 by Audrey Arno

My Pick for Top Dollar: Christmas Garden Patch #10,678 by Martha Wolfersberger.

Ironing & AAQI

I just had to show a picture of the civil war star block after ironing.  I hand pieced this block because of all the Y seams and it went together nicely and looks so much better ironed!

BEFORE IRONING

AFTER IRONING

By chance have you seen the latest AAQI post?  It is absolutely amazing!  Check it out here but for an “at-a-glance” summary check out the pie chart below that shows how the more than $747,000 was raised.  Three quarters of it was raised by us donating and purchasing Priority quilts!!!!!!  I’m off to register three more Priority quilts for our guild….check out our Challenge page here.

Baprons!

It’s design wall Monday and I have Baprons on my wall 🙂

I have a baby shower to attend and there’s a baby that arrived the end of July so I thought baby aprons, Baprons, would be great gifts.  Click here to see the pattern.  Here’s Miss Lily modeling the one I made for her.

I love the moon and stars fabric I used for this one….both babies are boys.

And during my morning commute I finished a do-over civil war block from Barbara Brackman’s BOW.  It will look better once I iron it.  I’m so much happier with #2!

This is number #1.

I had a little resale therapy at the Goodwill Clearance Center…….

How about making an AAQI from this:

And some nice prints to add to my stash……..

That means a change in my stash report….but it’s a positive one because I donated some fabric to the Soroptimist Service Project which you can read about here.
