Ironing & AAQI

I just had to show a picture of the civil war star block after ironing.  I hand pieced this block because of all the Y seams and it went together nicely and looks so much better ironed!

By chance have you seen the latest AAQI post?  It is absolutely amazing!  Check it out here but for an “at-a-glance” summary check out the pie chart below that shows how the more than $747,000 was raised.  Three quarters of it was raised by us donating and purchasing Priority quilts!!!!!!  I’m off to register three more Priority quilts for our guild….check out our Challenge page here.

It’s design wall Monday and I have Baprons on my wall 🙂

I have a baby shower to attend and there’s a baby that arrived the end of July so I thought baby aprons, Baprons, would be great gifts.  Click here to see the pattern.  Here’s Miss Lily modeling the one I made for her.

I love the moon and stars fabric I used for this one….both babies are boys.

And during my morning commute I finished a do-over civil war block from Barbara Brackman’s BOW.  It will look better once I iron it.  I’m so much happier with #2!

This is number #1.

I had a little resale therapy at the Goodwill Clearance Center…….

How about making an AAQI from this:

And some nice prints to add to my stash……..

That means a change in my stash report….but it’s a positive one because I donated some fabric to the Soroptimist Service Project which you can read about here.

Happy Monday

Happy Monday 🙂  I’m excited to show my design wall because the last three civil war blocks from Barbara Brackman’s block of the week (BOTW) are one it!

Click here to check out Judy’s Design Wall Monday post.  I’ve checked out a few of the posts and there are some inspiring projects in the works.

I really like blocks #44 – Union and #43 – Right Hand of Friendship:

But not so thrilled with my fabric choices for #41 – Red, White & Blue Quilt…..and I made two of them………and I hand pieced them because of all the set in seams!!  I may or may not re-make this one.

I also sewed the Asian Surprise BOM blocks into rows.  These blocks are from the 2009-2010 First Saturday BOM and I’m putting it together for a wedding gift.

Stash Report –

  • Fabric in:  3.5 yards (St Louis fabric from the Shop Hop )
  • Fabric out: 0 yards
  • YTD Fabric in: 97 yards
  • YTD Fabric out: 26 yards

Design Wall and Other Stuff

Happy Monday 🙂  Judy’s Design Wall Monday post always provides loads of inspiration so be sure to check it out.  Here’s my wall, with two new civil war BOTW blocks and the May First Saturday block ready to go.

Barbara Brackman’s civil war block-of-the-week (BOTW) blocks #47 Dixie Tea & #52 Christmas Star.

May’s First Saturday block.

Check out the fun stuff I received for my birthday last week.  A flower margarita bouquet, an AAQI Priority quilt and a Lava Lamp.  Remember the Lava Lamp?  Too fun!!

Lastly, check out the cool thing we did this weekend.  Curling lessons!  FUN!!!

May Monday

We are having some wonderful weather here in St Louis.  Absolutely gorgeous.  This week, I have a few new blocks on my design wall, including including blocks for a new leader/ender project 😉  Be sure to check out Judy’s DWM post here.

I finished up the alternate First Saturday block.

I made “Grapes of Wrath“, block number 50 of Barbara Brackman’s civil war BOW from 2011.  Since I’ve decided to use the medallion setting and only need the original 53 blocks, I only have 5 more blocks to finish, yea!!!

Lastly, I’ve been sewing these 9 patches as my leader/enders with an eye to making some Hot Crossed 9-Patches inspired by the Block Lotto April 2012 block.  I’m using reclaimed shirt fabric but haven’t decided what fabric to use for the “cross” part.  I’ll be sewing the frame pieces leader/ender as well 🙂
