April Fools Day

Happy April.  I have a finished quilt, some stash and a new Grandmother’s Choice block to show….no fooling 🙂

I participated in Lori’s (Humble Quilt blog), 2013 Abundance quilt-a-long to reproduce a vintage doll quilt.  Here is my version which I completed a while ago but couldn’t show until it was gifted to my fun SIL.  I used fabrics from the 1800’s repo scrap bags I ordered from Homestead Hearth.  Talk about fun 🙂

I finished hand piecing block #27, The Houghton’s, from Barbara Brackman’s Grandmother’s Choice BOTW.  This is week 31 and I have 27 of the blocks completed so with only 18 more weeks, I am more than half way there 🙂

I don’t have much more room on my design wall for them…….

As for my stash report, well I only get to count the smallest of amounts out for my finish, darn!  I have a couple of thrifted fabrics to add and my SIL gifted me with some fabrics as well.

Monday, Monday

I’m not good at naming quilts and I’m not any better coming up with names for posts, lol.  I have multiple projects close to completion and I should be finishing them.  Even so, nary a one is any closer to completion.  My mojo just hasn’t been there so I’ve been sewing scraps into crumb blocks and making a few free pieced letters.

I have loaded the Double Time log cabin quilt on Sophie but I haven’t quilted anything except in the margins.

I completed another Grandmother’s Choice block, #28 Ocean Wave.

So the design wall is getting crowded with all these blocks…..I’ve completed 26 and there are 49 total.

I should be binding three four quilts, putting borders on one two quilts and preparing an applique block but what am I doing?  None of those things 🙁  On a happier note, here’s a pic of the fabrics I reported in my stash last week…….in the yellow/cheddar vein and I’ve already used the one on right for Grandmother’s Choice block #27, Grandmother’s Dream.

There’s no change in the stash report….

Happy Monday

It’s a good day, no snow, no sleet, no ice, no rain 🙂  I’ve not gotten much done this week but one of the things, quilting on Sophie is wonderful.  Wonderful because she is quilting so nicely now that she’s had an in home visit from the repair guy 🙂  I can quilt more than a minute without the thread breaking. I’m quilting my guild’s QOV quilt and it’s going so smoothly 🙂

I have a couple of new blocks on the design wall.

Block #24 – True Blue from the Grandmother’s Choice BOTW.

And the main block from February for the First Saturday group.

I had an oops when cutting the fabrics and had to replace the purple dot fabric.  And another oops when sewing the block together.  The jury is out on whether I will fix it.  Maybe I’ll just make a whole other block and use this on on the back….or not 😉

No change to the Stash Report even though our guild had a fabric exchange night, I managed not to bring home more than I took 🙂

I have more cheddar and green blocks on the design wall for DWM.  I finished three more of the Grandmother’s Choice BOTW blocks, plus an oops block 😉

The new blocks are #22, Jack’s Delight….

# 23, Girl’s Joy…..

#25 The Carrie Nation Quilt….

Not too happy with this one…..no contrast between the dark large and dark small squares, so I might remake it.

Talk about an ugly oops block, check this one out!!  There are just so many mistakes in this one, lol…..this should keep me humble all year!

No change to the Stash Report 🙂 🙁
