Catching up on the Rainbow Scrap Challenge and First Saturday blocks, woo hoo! I’m not completely caught up since the RSC liberated churn dash blocks aren’t finished….but all the rest are DONE and on the design wall 🙂 Check out Judy’s DWM post here.
This is the end of the Fox Sails the Greek Isles First Saturday and with the start of the The Fox in the Forest in August, I thought I’d better get June & July blocks done.
My DD sent me a beautiful Mola from Columbia for my birthday. It’s wonderful and I LOVE it. I’ll have to come up with a plan for it but I think it’s destined for my office. Thank you, Jennifer 🙂
Still feeling the glow created by all the beautiful quilts seen in Paducah. Here is See Rock City by Julie who I was excited to meet up with at the show.
Julie’s quilt is wonderful….better in person…..as you can tell it’s BIG!!!
And it’s DWM so here’s what’s up on mine, March and April’s First Saturday blocks. We have two more months and then we’ll get suggested settings. One we got a glimpse of Saturday had the bright blue & white HST’s continued into sashing and I think it will look quite nice. Be sure to hop over to Judy’s DWM post to check out other projects in the works.
I finished sewing up these two tiny 4 1/2″ pp pineapple blocks….they may be the only ones I make, ever!
I’ve been thrifting a bit & found some good light shirts. I especially like the two pink ones on the left and the gold print in the middle. The three shirts on the right have a beautiful hand to them. That’s what convinced me to get them, well that, and the $0.79/lb price 😉
A while back Bonnie Hunter mentioned that chocolate brown thrifted shirts are hard to find. She’s absolutely right! So I snagged this one immediately (if it doesn’t look chocolate brown, trust me it is ;-P). Then I saw this blue/turquoise flower print…yum.
And check out these J Crew boxers! They are the perfect weight, not thin, and have the softest feel.
Since I’ve not salvaged the fabric from my treasures, there is no change in my stash report 🙂 That’s my rule, not stash in until it’s stashed 😉

It’s design wall Monday and there’s nothing new on my wall….but how about a design bed? These are my blocks from The Quilted Fox First Saturday club, minus four that were rejected. I used fabric purchased with my friend Darlene for the borders because it’s a gift to our wonderful Paducah quilt show hostess, Nancy. Two friends, Sandy & Jan, our fellow lodgers, quilted and bound it respectively. I think it turned out wonderful and since Nancy likes to travel, it’s a perfect fit for her. Over the Easter weekend I went to visit a few vintage/antique stores. Usually I don’t see too many quilts that really catch my eye, but check out this fabulous pieced circle quilt. It is just wonderful and probably a good deal at $375 if the rest of the quilt is in as good of shape as what’s showing.
As you can see it was hanging on a ladder behind other items so I didn’t get to look at it close up but the quilting shows so nicely in this picture. The second quilt that caught my eye was this indigo bow tie quilt because of the pink striped fabrics and the bow tie blocks used for cornerstones.
No changes to the stash report again this week but I’m leaving for Paducah on Wednesday…. 😉
It’s design wall Monday. I’m all caught up with my first Saturday blocks, with both my main and alternate blocks for Feb done. Also on my design wall are all the Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks from Jan & Feb. Head on over to Judy’s DWM post to see other inspiring design walls.

Design wall additions include pink string blocks for the RSC14 and the February first Saturday block. Click over to Judy’s DWM post to see more eye candy 🙂
The first Saturday blocks are all batiks with a wow print and are suppose to be in the colors of the Greek Isles. The medium green-blue color does look like island ocean water to me.
I think the RSC pink pinwheels look fine with the first set of sting blocks I with the wide variety in values.
My quilt guild was over the top generous with a gift certificate to The Quilted Fox as a thank you for directing the Quintessential Quilt 2013 show. Which got me thinking about the 108″ wide Kona cotton I bought for the background of the Benjamin Biggs Wedding quilt because it was only $35. I liked the color but the courser weave wasn’t as nice to hand applique on. Given that I had only just begun my first BBW block, I decided to use my gift to indulge in a similarly colored but much finer weave Moda background for my BBW quilt. It is, after all, a 2 year project and I’ll be ever so thankful each time I work on it for the lovely gift from my guild 🙂 Oh, and a couple of Fox Tails and other lovely red/orange print were added to the gift as well. Thank you to all wonderful ladies in our guild.
