First Sat Block, Check

I finished the February alternate block.  I did substitute the dark fabric but it was because I did like the one included.  It was okay close up but when I saw the picture of the block on the website, the fabric looked muddied or something.

At least I got this one together with all the colors in the right locations ;)

Happy Monday

It’s a good day, no snow, no sleet, no ice, no rain :)  I’ve not gotten much done this week but one of the things, quilting on Sophie is wonderful.  Wonderful because she is quilting so nicely now that she’s had an in home visit from the repair guy :)  I can quilt more than a minute without the thread breaking. I’m quilting my guild’s QOV quilt and it’s going so smoothly :)

I have a couple of new blocks on the design wall.

Block #24 – True Blue from the Grandmother’s Choice BOTW.

And the main block from February for the First Saturday group.

I had an oops when cutting the fabrics and had to replace the purple dot fabric.  And another oops when sewing the block together.  The jury is out on whether I will fix it.  Maybe I’ll just make a whole other block and use this on on the back….or not ;)

No change to the Stash Report even though our guild had a fabric exchange night, I managed not to bring home more than I took :)

Uh Oh….

As penance for not listening to DH’s urging to wear my cutting glove ALL the time, I have to put this picture on my blog.

Let’s just leave at that, shall we?

To make this post a little more exciting, here’s my progress on my scrap club square in a square quilt top.

And the First Sat blocks from Nov, Dec & Jan.

I’m all caught up on the First Sat blocks and still have two weeks to finish up the Feb blocks :-)  I wonder if my finger will fit in the cutting glove with the bandaging on it…mmmmm…..

Just Back from the Quilter – Vicksburg!

I just received my Vicksburg quilt back from Terri Kanyuck, who did an outstanding job quilting it.  This was a free BOM from Dawn Hesse of Linen Closet Quilts.  Dawn’s finished quilt can be seen here and here.  I only used fabric from my stash, as Dawn encouraged and I’m so happy with the results.

Really, Terri’s quilting is wonderful and really makes this quilt sing! Check out these close ups.

I couldn’t be happier.  I think I’ll try my hand at blocking this top, something I’ve not done before, as I’m toying with the idea of entering it in a quilt show.

Hey, it’s Design Wall Monday and here’ what’s on my wall.  Quite a bit has happened in the sewing arena since I last posted :)

More Grandmother’s Choice and First Saturday blocks.  More on those later :)

Stash Report for 2012 –

  • Fabric in:  3.5 yards
  • Fabric out: 0 yards
  • YTD Fabric in: 150.75 yards
  • YTD Fabric out: 79.25 yards
  • Net Fabric In/(Out): 71.5 yards – quite a bit more than my goal of 25 yards but then there really isn’t a penalty for overdoing it ;)  And really, who turns down the opportunity to purchase out-of-print Ami Simms fabric??

And you certainly don’t say no to Christmas gifts of fabrics!

As for 2013, well, there’s been a few thrifted shirts acquired but at $0.79/lb, that’s not being bad, just THRIFTY!
