My friend, Darlene, who missed our annual trek to Paducah for the AQS show due to illness, has been published in the June issue of AQS magazine! Woo Hoo!!!! Three years ago one of Darlene’s quilts, Meet Me in St Louis, was accepted into the Paducah AQS show. I was a proud friend, let me tell you. Her quilt caught the eye of the AQS editors and the rest is history. Check it out:
The magazine in on newsstands now…..of course I knew about this for a while and even checked in with Darlene’s editor while I was in Paducah to see if the plan to have it in the June issue was still a go. They also included a nice bio.
Nice shout out for our guild 🙂 Also from our guild in this issue is Suzanne Marshal’s wall hanging, Echoing Spring, winner of Best Wall Hand Workmanship…..weeeeeeeeeee!
I’ve gotten a couple more First Saturday blocks done and the last paper pieced tree before I start over doing them with scrappy lights for the background. The first PP trees will be orphans 🙁
There’s been some action, of the layering on top of kind, on my design wall so I can participate in Design Wall Monday 😉
The April & May First Saturday main blocks are done. I have the April, May alternate blocks and the June main and alternate blocks cut out and ready to sew.

I pulled out two flimsies that need backings before being quilted. I can’t wait to finish these two projects that have been marinating since 2005 and 2009.

Here’s my design wall which is getting crowded with all the Grandmother’s Choice blocks 🙂
I finished up the alternate first Saturday block where I made yet another fabric substitution 😉
My long arm Sophie & I bonded this weekend and I finished quilting our guild’s QOV string quilt. I quilted pretty densely as I hope this quilt gets lots of use and therefore lots of washes. I did loops and randomly placed stars….none of which show up well in the photo.
I’m happy that one of my recent Priority quilts has sold 🙂 I had a draft blog post I’d forgotten about that said these two quilts had been added to the Quilt for Sale page.
Summer Traveling #12,978 is still available here
Beach Living # 12,979 has sold 🙂
I received two wonderful pieces of fabric from DD but I forgot to take pictures…….so here’s my stash report.

I’ve sewed up a couple more blocks. I just realized to keep up with the First Saturday blocks and the Grandmother’s Choice block-of-the-week blocks, I have to make at least 6 blocks each month to keep up with these series blocks.

Grandmother’s Choice #26 – Ladies’ Wreath
I finished the February alternate block. I did substitute the dark fabric but it was because I did like the one included. It was okay close up but when I saw the picture of the block on the website, the fabric looked muddied or something.
At least I got this one together with all the colors in the right locations 😉
