DW Monday :)
Monday, February 22nd, 2010I had a most productive weekend. First I quilted the quilt for my sister. Sophie was up to her usual perfect self…..she is such a pleasure to work with
I also cut, sewed and ironed the binding for this quilt AND got it sewn on. I started the hand stitching this morning on the MetroLink so I’ll have this quilt completed by this weekend. My goal is to get it in the mail on Saturday.
I also cut the sashing pieces for the last First Saturday blocks from the Quilted Fox, Foxy Fassetts.
I finished piecing a miniature quilt but no picture of it yet…..I’m not sure if it done or not. The AAQI priority quilt received some more quilting. In fact, I’m more than half way done. And last, I cut the setting squares for a leader/ender nine-patch quilt which is on my design wall for Design Wall Monday (DWM). Sorry for the blurry photo
Check out what other quilters have on their other design walls at Judy’s DWM post.
Almost forgot my stash report!

Still Quilting….
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010Here’s the progress I’ve made on the AAQI Priority quilting. Only one month until the deadline and I’m getting there!
Here’s the backing I pieced for the quilt for my sister. I used up all but the smallest bits of the fabrics leftover from the top. Even then I needed the two additional half yards of pink prints I bought for this project but didn’t use on the front. It’s not balanced like some of the fun backings I’ve seen on blogs recently but I like that it used up everything, including the two extra free pieced blocks from the front. I really like the flower print.
Monday – Design Wall Time
Monday, February 15th, 2010Here’s what’s on my design wall today. I completed not only the top but the backing as well. This one is ready to quilt
Check out what other people are working on at Judy’s DWM blog post.
I get to include the yardage from this finish in my Stash report, yea!!!

Design Wall Monday :)
Monday, February 8th, 2010The Hope quilt is back on my design wall. I’m thinking on what I want to put between the words and the date. I’m not happy with what’s up there. I want to introduce some green but the green squares seem too dark or maybe the background fabric is too light??? I’m thinking of using the fabric on the left for a 2″ border and I love the flower fabric on the right for a wider outer border.
Yesterday I posted my stash report and mentioned a gift certificate I received. Well, here’s something else I bought with it.
A whole gallon of Best Press, yippee! I resisted trying this stuff when everyone was raving about on their blogs because it’s a bit pricey, IMO. Well, once I bought a bottle, I was hooked and as Louise at The Quilted Fox says, “it’s only a dinner out.” Speaking of The Quilted Fox, I finished both the First Sat block and the alternate block for next month!
And lastly, here’s the AAQI priority quilt all appliqued and basted for hand quilting! Notice the new flower that just demanded to be added on the right. And I had already sewn the “planter” down…..don’t you just love it when a quilt insists on something you’ve already decided against?
What’s Up
Monday, February 1st, 2010It’s Design Wall Monday and here’s what is on my wall. Check out what other folks are up to over at Judy’s blog. This is a special quilt for my sister. I started the free-pieced letters on Sat and I made good progress.
This weekend I also finished the alternate First Saturday block.
Delivered
Wednesday, November 25th, 2009This past weekend I was able to give the Cards vs Sox quilt to the bride & groom. They seemed quite pleased and it was nice to be able to see them open it. Here are a couple of quick picks taken right before delivery. My holders were complaining a bit as they had to stretch to get the quilt up high enough to get the picture. I sure appreciate their efforts ![]()
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!
DWM
Monday, November 2nd, 2009Not much going on in the quilting room except the waterfall……did I mention the waterfall yet? There has been so much rain around here that our window wells, well the one window well couldn’t handle it. Of course it was one of the two in my sewing room. It filled up with water until it started pouring in the window, down the wall and onto the floor. Fun stuff I tell you. That happened on Thursday. Saturday morning we took down the quilt show and, boy, does the library seem dull without all the wonderful quilts hanging in the atrium and gallery. Saturday evening was trick-or-treating and Sunday afternoon was quilt pick-up. Pretty much shot my weekend but I did complete the quilting on the Cards vs Sox quilt, yea!!!
For DWM (design wall Monday) here’s a shot of a not much changed wall.
There WILL be something new next week, I PROMISE!!! I have to make my First Sat block and sew the binding for the quilt, then I get to work on the TTNP blocks
Those of us who took the TTNP workshop are getting together Nov 10th to show our progress so I have to have something more done or I might be laughed out of the room
Edited to add: Check out Judy’s post to see other what projects other folks are working on
Monday, Monday
Monday, October 26th, 2009Yes, it’s been a few days but the camera battery died and posts are not fun if they don’t have pictures! First off, I didn’t post last week’s design wall Monday and it still looks the same for this Monday:
The only difference from the last time I posted is the lettering for the Cards vs Sox quilt came down. I wasn’t able to complete the wedding quilt in time for the wedding but I was oh, so close.
Front ^
Back ^
I will get it quilted and handed off to the bride and groom soon, very, very soon. Yep, that’s my story.
Design Wall & Borders
Monday, October 12th, 2009Okay, I’m layering it on…….my design wall that is
There’s the finished letters (via Tonya’s free pieced tutorial) for the Cards vs Sox wedding quilt. See, I have to be finished in 4, yes 4, days. Yikes! Behind the letter borders you see my Topsy Turvy Nine Patches from Judy Laquidara, my First Saturday blocks and a bit of the Linen Closet Quilts BOM. Oh, and the green fabric from the project I can’t show
Here’s a pic of the rest of the Cards vs Sox quilt borders. I sure hope this all comes together. I’m thinking their names will go on the top border and the date on the bottom but to make it a bit more wonky, I might put the date on the right side….
