Wedding Quilt

Friday, October 9th, 2009

There are 7 more days for me to get the Cards vs Sox wedding quilt finished.  Last night I got the “&” and “JO” finished and got “S” and “H” half way done.  I’m not happy with the “O” and want to go back and round a couple of the corners…..no time is what I keep telling myself!

Now I have to figure out how I want to do the rest of the border.  I’m sure I’ll be hand sewing the binding down on the 5 hour drive to Rockford next Friday….good thing we’re driving most of the way while it’s light out ;)

Design Wall Monday

This weekend was busy with the acceptance of quilts for the Quintessential Quilt 2009 show held Oct 3-Oct 30 this year.  That’s just to set the stage for what little I accomplished this weekend.

Yep, just one word, name actually, for the Cards vs Sox quilt.  That little bit of green above is a small quilt in progress but it’s a surprise so I can’t show any more than what I have here.  Those darn free pieced letters take time!  Perhaps they’ll go faster after I have more experience with them.  I also prep-ed an applique block from the Vicksburge BOM from Linen Closet Quilts.

Last, there’s a purple quilt in the works for DD2 and I laid out some fabrics this weekend to see if I want to use them for the Judy Laquidara workshop coming up as part of the Quintessental Quilt 2009 show.

Fun, fun, fun……

GLEE!

Here’s my four letter happy word for Tonya’s (of Lazy Gal Quilting) request for free pieced words.  I used my scrap bag of Cherrywood fabrics and it seems a bit plain but I do like the color combination.  I’ve dropped this in the mail today :)

May’s Alternate Block

Monday, May 11th, 2009

I’ve been busy washing up my fabric haul from Paducah :)   I’ve also been working a bit in the garden and it’s been so nice to be outdoors.  So far it’s been a pretty cool, if a bit wet, spring.

I’ve cut out my First Saturday blocks and got the alternate blocked completed:

The main block is more than half way together so I’ll have a picture of it soon.

On another note, I’m going to make a free pieced letter for Tonya of Lazy Gal Quilting from her request in this post and she explains more about it at the end of this post.   This is a good one for me because there’s a deadline, June 15th!!  I work best under the pressure of a deadline :)

Remember my first attempt at free pieced letters? I’ll be using bright, happy fabrics for Tonya’s….I’d better get busy!
