Happy Monday Judy’s Design Wall Monday post always provides loads of inspiration so be sure to check it out. Here’s my wall, with two new civil war BOTW blocks and the May First Saturday block ready to go.

Daffodils, Jonquils, Oh My!

I have a great fondness for daffodils. Their short bloom period is part of what makes them so special and signals the change from winter to spring. They need little care, multiply prolifically and make great cut flowers……all wonderful reasons to love the daffodil. Here are a few of the spots in our yard that have daffodils:

The photo above is the strip between the houses where tiger lily’s grow as well as volunteer trees which I cover with cans to keep them from sending out side shoots. Just explaining what the rusty cans are doing here…..you can’t see them when the lily’s come up.

Waste Not Wednesday

It’s a Red, White & Blue Monday

It’s Design Wall Monday and the theme of this post, by pure coincidence, is Red, White & Blue. I cut the fabrics for my First Saturday blocks and a couple Civil War blocks. For this civil war block, I used one of the fabrics I received from Vicki…..as soon as I saw the blue fabric with stars, I knew it was perfect for the flag block!

My design wall has more red string blocks. All of the blocks are sewn but I didn’t trim the rest of them because Bonnie pointed out on her blog that it was double work to trim them square them up, cut them in half and then trim the triangles again, duh I’ll work on getting the triangles cut later.

On Saturday we went to the parade in downtown St Louis to honor the Iraq veterans home.

Bapron

Yes, Bapron as in baby apron I found a tutorial to make this Bapron on Ucreate. It was easy to follow. I made one for Lily Bean and forgot to take a picture before it was put in the box to send…….so here is the lovely Lily modeling the Bapron

Because the Bapron has arm holes, it stays in place better than a bib and doesn’t Lily look adorable?

It’s Monday Design Wall time Click over to Judy’s DWM post here to catch what other quilters have on their design walls. I’m still working on the SAHR quilting…….I’m just showing the new stuff It’s coming along but not fast enough!!

And totally not quilt related, here’s a picture of what was in our basement yesterday. Unlike the one from several years ago, I was not the one to find it, thank goodness!

Our friend Terri from Oklahoma was visiting St Louis so we got together for the first time in years. We had a great time Terri gave me flowers, the roses are blooming out so nicely, and us a bottle of wine. Check out the wonderful wine wrap….it’s a sock monkey!! Isn’t it GREAT??? It’s too funny…I love it.

The bits in front are size 12 pearl cotton for quilting my SAHR top and two packs of grab bag wool pieces. These goodies came from Piece-O-Cake and I can’t wait to start using them.

Hot July Monday

Hot, hot, hot!! It was an excellent weekend to spend some time hanging out in the cool basement I finished cleaning my sewing room. There are a couple of more thing I want to do (get the mattresses out, refold some reclaimed fabric, etc.) but I declare the cleaning done. For Design Wall Monday I forgot to take a straight on picture so here’s one cropped from a cleaning picture.

Those 9 patches on the left side are made from 2.5 inch crumb blocks that I found while cleaning……I vaguely remember working on them

There’s still a lot of stuff under the table, including 4 sewing machines and 4 boxes of stuff from the quilt guild quilt show but it doesn’t hurt anything.

The cutting table was cleaned up and then a few projects were strategically placed.

Lily Bean on a…..Quilt :)

Lily Bean is chillin’ at an Italian beach on a quilt my mother, Lily’s great-grandmother, made quite a few years ago.

Cute, no? Lily’s mommy says she likes putting her hands in her mouth and thinks her toes might be next Check out this picture! The flower is almost as big as cute miss Lily’s head, lol.

And now something sewing related…one of the boppy covers I made in action

Okay, enough of the pictures of darling little Lily Bean…….I finished up the June & July First Sat main blocks, woo hoo. Only the three alternate blocks and I’ll have all the blocks done.
