MLK DWM aka Alphabet Soup

It is a dark, dreary, misty/rainy day, but it is a holiday so its all good 🙂  Go here to Judy’s DWM post to see design walls with more to show than mine!  My wall has a mismash of things on it….a couple of units from Bonnie Hunter’s recent mystery, some flying geese blocks because I made a mistake cutting the most recent First Sat block wrong, etc 😉

DWM 1-16-17I finished my second purple broken dishes blocks.  I recently bought a dark purple shirt and I love it in this block although it doesn’t photograph well at all.

DWM 1-9-17

Wow, I haven’t possted for Design Wall Monday in quite awhile! Click over to Judy’s DWM post here.

dwm-1-9-17Among all the stuff on the wall, I’ve got Sept – Dec’s First Saturday’s blocks:

Dog Days DWM

It hit 100 degrees with a heat index of 115!!  It was a good weekend to stay inside and sew a bit….and sew I did.  Here’s my crowded design wall 🙂  I’m linking up with Judy’s DWM post so hop over and check it out.

DWM 7-25-16I’ve been re-arranging the solid colored rectangle samples (top left) trying to find something I really like….this might be it 🙂  Kind of pixelated.

I have some broken dishes blocks, part of my RSC challenge project, that some how got cut and sewn in the PINK month! WHAT!!!  How did that happen??

RSC 16 Brown Plaid(Kevin, recognize the brown/black plaid?)

RSC 16 Red Plaid 2RSC 16 Red BDRSC 16 BrownI got the 12th and final First Saturday main block sewn up…….these blocks are hard!  I had to look at the directions I typed up EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.  I like the blocks so at least they’ve been worth it, right?

FS 16 July MainAnd I’m working on the First Saturday alternate blocks which I didn’t sew as we went along.  WHY.EVER.NOT??

FS 16 Alt JanWoo Hoo!!  I’m catching up on the First Saturday blocks…..I can’t wait to lay these blocks out and see how they look 😉

RSC Pink, Watermelon Pink

I went surfing in my shirting scraps and found I don’t have many pinks and, of the ones I have, I wouldn’t necessarily call them watermelon pink but they will do 😉  Can I say I.LOVE.MY.STUDIO.CUTTER?  Having the dog ears cut off the triangles makes it SO easy to sew accurate HST’s.  The same with the speaky/pike (peaky/spike) triangle square pieces.  It’s awesome!  Oops, got a little off track there….here are my broken dishes blocks for July.

Acronyms, don’t you love ’em?  I’m caught up on my Rainbow Scrap Challenge broken dishes blocks.

DWM 6-27-16I finished up the April green blocks so they’ve joined May & June’s blocks on the design wall.  I did a little calculating and if I want to make a queen/king size from these blocks with no borders, it will take approx 3 1/2 years at 4 blocks a month sooooo…….instead of two combos, I selected four, making a total of 8 blocks.  I’m not sure about the large plaids….what do you think?
