First Spring Monday

Spring has sprung in our parts…..I know because my daffodils are blooming 🙂

DaffodilI finished my RSC blocks for March, the color is yellow, and put them all on my design wall.  I’m having fun with these and using the Studio cutter is awesome since you don’t end up with any dog ears.  I’m linking up with Judy’s DWM post here.

DWM 3-23-15I visited my favorite treasure hunting place and hit the jackpot with 5 identical green 100% cotton shirts as well as a couple of others 🙂  At $0.79/lb, it’s cheap fabric!

Green ShirtsI pieced the backing for STYX out of the lime green polka dot fabric so I have some stash out and since the aforementioned shirts haven’t yet been deboned and added to the stash……my stash report is looking good 😉

Stash Report:

  • Fabric in: 0 yards
  • Fabric out:  2.5 yards
  • YTD Fabric in:  24.5 yards
  • YTD Fabric out: 26.5 yards
  • Net Fabric In/(Out): (2) yards

RSC Yellow Blocks

I finished my yellow RSC broken dishes blocks.  The top left/bottom right ones look more peach but the plaid has some yellow in it 🙂

RSC Mar YellowI put together the string blocks from the RSC14 and STYX was born.  Now I just need to quilt it so I can enter it in our quilt show 🙂

Scraps, Stash & Fun

I have a couple of new blocks on my design wall and am linking up with Judy’s DWM post.

DWM 3-16-15Including this fun and funky churn dash/hole in the barn door/monkey wrench block:

Fun and FunkyAnd this sample flag block from Alycia Quilts for QOV:

Alycia Quilts QOV Flag BlockI have a flimsy too 🙂  This is STYX, a quilt top made from RSC14  blocks.  I’ve been intending this for a baby quilt for a co-worker but SOME people have insisted that I should NOT give this one away…’s special, they say 🙂

RSC STIX Quilt TopIt must be special because I bought two black & white and one green fabric to finish it.  Couldn’t be made with fabric I already have now, could it?  No, it just wasn’t haven’t that, it needed new fabric!  So that fabric along with this thrifted stash enhancement means….fabric in.  But a flimsy finish means fabric out 🙂

Thirfted Stash

Stash Report:

  • Fabric in: 8.5 yards
  • Fabric out:  2.5 yards
  • YTD Fabric in:  24.5 yards
  • YTD Fabric out: 24 yards
  • Net Fabric In/(Out): 0.5 yards

RSC Catch Up

I finished up the rest of the liberated churn dash RSC14 blocks.  They aren’t trimmed but they are together 😉  So the DD likes the blocks with the strings as the background.

Liberated Churn DashIt also makes these blocks, the negative of the ones above, and they may or may not be heading to someone who said they would take them 😉  I like them both.

Liberated Churn Dash in NegativeI got the adapter so I can use Go dies in my Studio Cutter and got the Go the peaky/spike die.  I cut some scraps to try it out.  It worked perfectly and, boy, the pieces went together so nicely.

Peaky Spike Go DieI’m thinking they could be used for a pieced border…..hmmmmmm, I’ll have to think on that.
