Small Changes

Happy Design Wall Monday!  I made a small change on my design wall, swapping out light blue blocks for oranges ones….fun!!

DWM 2-2-15It’s typical of me to wait until a deadline is looming large to go into a flurry of activity to finish on time.  I’ve been working on a secret project and it needed to be mailed on Saturday.  A flurry of activity occurred in my sewing room until late Friday night and again Saturday morning.  Let’s just say I finished, snapped a few pics and slid into the Post Office just in time, whew!!

I spent several hours cleaning up, trimming bits and pieces to feed the scrap bins AND muttering to myself, “No, that piece is too small…..you really MUST throw it out”.  I just can’t keep every last smidgen…..they are weighing me down…..and they multiply so quickly!!  Now I’m ready to start pulling sashing fabric for the blocks on my design wall.  And pink scraps for February RSC blocks.  Be sure to hop over to Judy’s DWM post 🙂

Because of the secret project, I have stash out, woo hoo.  Because of thrifting, I also have stash in…..but notice there is more out than in 😉

Planning DWM

I’m linking up with Judy’s DWM post with another colorful design wall 🙂  I’m trying to decide where I want to go with these RSC blocks and whether I need to continue making more this year.  I’ve been playing with different arrangements but haven’t settled on one yet.

Fun Backing

I used most of the bits left from piecing the Topsy Turvy Nine Patch top in the backing.  It turned out to be a pretty fun backing……

TTNP Backing……colorful, like the top even in this bad pic 🙂  That’s Simontacchi giving it a look-see.

A finished backing means stash out!!  This might be the first time I net stash out, I’ll have to see if I can keep it that way 😉  Linking up with Judy’s Design Wall Monday post.

First 2015 DWM

I thought I’d been participating in Judy’s Design Wall Mondays (DWM) for awhile now but I had no idea it was 5 1/2 years!!  Thank you, Judy, for continuing to host DWM‘s.  I’m working on piecing a backing from the leftover bits from the Topsy Turvy Nine Patch so most of what on the wall belong to that.

DWM 1-5-15I also have a couple finished broken dish blocks which I’ve decided will be one of the blocks I do for the Rainbow Scrap challenge for 2015.

Broken DishesA new year means a clean slate for the stash report.  I picked up a yard of fabric at the First Sat and promptly shared 1/4 yard with a friend (Hi Margaret).

Tail End of 2014 DWM’s

Only two 2014 DWM’s left after today.  I sewed up December’s First Sat main block and Nov & Dec alternate blocks which means…..I’m all caught up 🙂  Hop over to Judy’s DWM post for more quilt-y goodness. Pardon the bloody awful photo’s of my basement design wall.

DWM 12-15-14Below is the December First Sat block.  Like Jan O, I substituted a different fabric for the light green.  I think it’s dark enough, but maybe not?????  Guess we’ll see when we have all the blocks in July 2016.  Huh, kind of looks like caterpillars in the center fabric doesn’t it?

FS Dec MainFS Dec AltFS Nov AltThe First Sat programs from The Quilted Fox are always interesting in that sometimes the colors don’t seem to go with each other.  In the end, I’ve always been pleased with the 5 quilts I’ve made from them.

Asian Surprise 1Fox's PuzzleAbove, is the Fox’s Puzzle.  I have one completed top and blocks for an additional 4 tops which have aged long enough.  In 2015 I want to finish at least three……oh, who am I kidding?……I’m sure I’ll finish them all, ROTFLMAO!!!!
